How can I help my child be successful during distance learning?* Create a quiet workspace with a flat surface (desk, table, etc.) and supplies (notebooks, pencils, etc.) * Use a timer (a timer will help with student motivation and assignment completion; set goals and provide rewards) * Follow the school schedule as best as possible (this will insure a smooth transition upon returning to school) * Regularly communicate with your child (Ask questions such as : "What did you learn about today?", Do you need additional help on any skills?", etc.) * Make sure your child is prepared with all necessary class materials (Laptop, webcam, headphones with microphone, 3 notebooks, pencils and a sharpener) * Check our class website or Canvas regularly to see what students are learning in class each week. * Check Pinnacle to see your child's grades.

How to Troubleshoot Microsoft Teams issues?*** My camera isn’t working in Teams. *** 1. Check for updates. Select Start , then select Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates. If you see the option to View optional updates, select it to see if there are updates available for your camera. Allow available updates to install, then restart your device when it's ready. 2. Restart your PC. If you haven't restarted your device since the camera stopped working, you should do so. Select Start , then select Power > Restart. Waking up your device from sleep isn't the same thing as a restart. 3. Test your camera with the Camera app. Select Start , then choose Camera from the list of apps. If you're asked to allow access to the Camera, select Yes. If the camera works in the Camera app, the problem might be with the app you're trying to use. *** My microphone isn’t working in Teams. *** 1. First off, you’ll want to make sure your webcam and microphone are selected before joining or starting a call. When you join, you’ll see a toggle switch for your webcam on the left of the Join Now screen. You’ll also see a toggle switch for your microphone on the left. Make sure both are on. You’ll also want to click the settings cog and choose PC Mic and Speakers and make sure that you’ve selected the default microphone and speaker from the list. Go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Site Settings > View permissions and data stored across sites. From here, enter “teams.microsoft.com” in the Search field. Open the "Microsoft.com" group and scroll down to find "teams.microsoft.com" and select it. Here, set the Microphone and Camera to Allow access to these devices. *** I can’t sign into Teams. *** 1. If using a school computer- Try going into clever > teams and logging in that way. 2. If that still doesn’t solve the problem, see if your teacher can give you the Teams code. Once you have the Team/Class code, google “Join a Teams meeting” and insert the code that your child’s teacher gave you. This should connect you to the class. 3. If using a personal computer- If you don’t have the Teams App downloaded on your computer, try downloading the app. Log into Teams using your child’s 06…..number@browardschools.com and their password (PMM/DD/YYYY)- MUST INCLUDE THE CAPITAL P. *** Teams is freezing *** 1. On Windows 10, you can force Teams to quit by clicking Ctrl, Alt, and Delete together on your keyboard. You’ll then see a prompt on the screen. Choose Task Manager from the list. You should then see Microsoft Teams under the Apps section. Click this, and then choose End Task. This will cause Teams to quit. When you launch the app once again, it should load up as normal. 2. If all else fails, then don’t panic. As a backup, you can try using the Teams web app instead. Head to Teams.Microsoft.com and login with your account.
